This annual international extravaganza in Washington, DC connects the public with the vibrant culture, food, travel and tourism of various countries around the world. Hosted by the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center (RRB/ITC), this festival has the atmosphere of a bustling global marketplace with each embassy promoting their country through vibrant displays of visual art, food, handcrafts, as well as travel and tourism exhibits. Free and open to the public, guests can travel the world and do some holiday shopping—all during the lunch hour!

Embassy Chef Challenge

This annual Washington, DC event allows visitors to sample authentic cuisines from nearly 40 countries in a single day. Private chefs from across the nation’s capital gather at the Ronald Reagan Building to prepare their favorite dishes. A panel of culinary experts judge the dishes based on presentation, taste and how well the chef’s represent their countries.

PassportDC

PassportDC is a month-long journey around the world highlighting DC’s thriving international diplomatic community and its lively and varied culture. For the last ten years the program has been celebrated annually in May, which is International Cultural Awareness Month in Washington. Passport DC is 31 days of programming by 70 embassies and more than 40 of DC’s very best cultural institutions. In 2016, more than 235,000 people enjoyed the popular embassy open houses, street festivals, performances, exhibitions, workshops, and more.

Around the World Embassy Tour

Participants travel the world as they experience the food, art, dance, fashion, music, innovations, and manufactured goods from different countries. More than 40 embassies opened their doors to visitors over the years, allowing guests to pet alpacas, play with robots, learn indigenous dances, and more!

Cherry Blossom Festival

One of Washington’s most successful annual events is the legendary Cherry Blossom Festival. Cultural TourismDC presented a special afternoon featuring performing artists from seven embassies.
